It takes more than passion and indignation to eradicate the evil of slavery. It takes science. That’s why Free the Slaves has developed our Community Based Model for Fighting Slavery. It’s a four-step formula that guides our work to bring entire communities from slavery to freedom. It’s one of the most important innovations of our first 15 years as an organization.

How does this formula work? Our newest animated video takes you through the steps in an easy-to-understand way. In just three minutes, you’ll see how Free the Slaves spreads freedom by applying the principles of social science, economics, community organizing, rights education and effective policing.

Your contributions over the years have made our community model possible. Free the Slaves began experimenting with community-based approaches from the moment we were born. Thanks to our supporters, we’ve been able to formalize this model for change, spread it to programs in six trafficking hot spot countries, and begin rigorous scientific testing of its impact. So far, our approach has freed more than 10,000 people from slavery.

Take a moment to deepen your understanding of our front-line strategy by watching our latest video.

Our thanks to the many creative volunteers who donated or discounted their professional services to make this animated video possible! That includes Creative Director and Producer Neil DuFine, Presenter Matt Arden, Animation Artist and Video Editor Robert Burroughs, Music and Sound Effects Editor Kurtis Kwasny.

Can you help end the conditions that cause modern slavery?
