On July 29th, the Survivors Network in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) organized a significant training session focused on modern slavery and the essential role of survivors in leadership. This event was part of Free the Slaves’ broader mission to empower those who have endured the horrors of slavery, ensuring their voices and experiences are central to the fight against this grave issue.

The training aimed to educate survivors on the complexities of modern slavery while equipping them with leadership skills. In honor of the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons on July 30th, the DRC Survivors Network expanded its outreach with a radio awareness program and a participatory theater performance. The radio program reached a wide audience, disseminating crucial information about the signs and dangers of human trafficking.
