This has been a challenging year, but we know that 2021 holds the promise of renewal. While the COVID-19 pandemic has made racial inequality and modern slavery worse, the recovery will provide an opportunity for a global reset.

We do not need to repeat the inequities of the past. We can rebuild society in ways that bring modern slavery to an end. It will require systemic change where companies no longer profit from slavery, governments no longer ignore it, consumers no longer tolerate it, and the vulnerable no longer accept that slavery will always be with us.

Give the Gift of Freedom as 2020 Comes to a Close.

Free the Slaves community education and mobilization programs this year helped thousands of vulnerable individuals resist human trafficking, even as the COVID-19 pandemic increased risks.

For next year, we’re planning new strategic initiatives to expand our reach and impact. By recognizing that modern slavery is tied to climate change, migration, corporate impunity and global conflict, Free the Slaves is creating a new blueprint to integrate the end of slavery into other efforts to build a more just and sustainable society. I look forward to sharing our plans with you as next year unfolds.

If you haven’t had an opportunity in 2020 to make, renew or increase your contribution to Free the Slaves, please take a moment to donate before the year ends.

The journey to global freedom is arduous, and I value your support as we work to change the social, economic and political conditions that allow modern slavery to exist. As we conclude 2020, the 20th anniversary year for Free the Slaves, I am confident that together, we will create a world without slavery.

We wish you a Happy New Year.

Temporary changes to the tax code because of the COVID-19 pandemic allow U.S. individuals who do not itemize to deduct up to $300 of charitable contributions in 2020. Those who do itemize can deduct up to 100% of their income.

Can you help end the conditions that cause modern slavery?
