Lukas Nelson and his band are busy promoting their new album (the eponymous ‘Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real’). But Nelson still had time to sit down with me recently, and talk about his desire to help eradicate slavery.

For someone who took his first steps on a tour bus—his father is country music superstar Willie Nelson—Lukas is incredibly grounded. What I found most inspiring was that he wanted to use his platform to make the world a better place. In a recent interview with his band, Lukas said, “Most of what we do is so we can give back to the world. I don’t think any of us really care about being famous. I know what fame is, I grew up with my dad. It’s cool, but what’s more cool is what he can do because of his fame.”

Other causes Lukas supports are Farm Aid, Parkinson’s Foundation and Surfers Healing.

We’re excited that Lukas Nelson supports Free the Slaves. And we’ll be following his tour. Will he wear one of our “Slavery Sucks” t-shirts? Only time will tell….

Thanks for your support, Lukas!

Can you help end the conditions that cause modern slavery?
